De-Chlorinator filters work by using carbon filtration to remove chlorine from water. As water passes through the activated carbon filter, chlorine molecules are trapped by the porous carbon substrate through a process called adsorption. This effectively reduces the chlorine content, leaving the water safer for aquariums or in horticultural irrigation.

Additionally, these systems are capable of filtering out up to 90% of sediment, rust, silt, and the like, along with volatile organic compounds and particulates as small as 5 microns.
